Int. Women Day: NGO advocates for gender equality in government sector

A non Governmental Organisational Self Discovery Empowerment Foundation International on Saturday advocated for gender equality in government sector.

Founder of the Organisation, Kate Isah,said on Saturday in Kaduna as part of the activities to mark the international Women Day .

She urges government to uplift the women around them,ensuring they have equal opportunities to thrive and succeed.

She said collectively, we can Accelerate Action for gender equality by Empowering women with tools,education and confidence to take charge of their lives.

According to her,This year’s theme, “Accelerate Action,” emphasizes the need for swift and decisive steps to achieve gender equality.

“It is imperative we note that both gender are important and have key roles to play in sustaining the society.

“Women should not suffer discrimination but be given access to education, medical care, employment, leadership opportunities and economic empowerment.

“Today, is a day to recognize and celebrate the achievements of women all over the world.
“It is a day to acknowledge the progress made towards gender equality and to recommit ourselves to the unfinished work of empowering women and girl

“As an organisation,we have a critical role to play in amplifying the voices of women and girls.
“We are committed to supporting women’s participation in leadership and decision-making.

She added that despite the progress made, women and girls continue to face significant challenges.
“They face discrimination, violence, and unequal access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunity.

“Women as home builders have a critical role in moulding the society. No form of education or empowerment will amount to futility in a woman.

“believes there is room for more opportunities and greater benefits when women are involved in governance.

“In line with the 2025 theme, we urge government to renews its commitment in accelerating action on opportunities for women and girls. To accelerate action on opportunity, we must work together to address the systemic barriers and biases that prevent women and girls from reaching their full potential; as we pray for a more equitable and just place for all.

The News Agency report that the activity took place at badiko community where
women where encouraged to be key elements of behavioral change and development in the community.

The community women appreciate FASI for celebrating them and pledge their support in bringing change in community especially intimate partner violence
(IPV )as it is the core area of the organisation focus .
