NYSC  swears in 2,096 corps members in Kaduna

The National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), on Friday swears-in 2,096 corps members in Kaduna to officially kick-start the 21-days orientation course.

The corps members comprised 1,372 deployed to Kaduna while 724 deployed to Abuja, the FCT, were all camping in Kaduna for the orientation course.

The NYSC orientation course is aimed at providing a transformative experience for corps members, equipping them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and values to excel in their service year and beyond.

The three-week course is designed to foster leadership, discipline, and self-discovery, while promoting national unity, cultural exchange, and community service.

Addressing the corps members, the Governor of Kaduna state, Uba Sani, said the scheme is more than just a program, but rather, a transformative initiative for over five decades.

Sani, represented by the state’s Commissioner, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Abubakar Buba, said the scheme has united young Nigerians, breaking barriers of ethnicity, religion, and language, while nurturing generations of leaders who are driving change across the country.

“Today, you have joined this remarkable scheme, standing on the shoulders of those who came before you, as symbols of hope, unity, and the boundless possibilities of our great nation,”he said.

Sani also said, the corps member would experience the beauty of  Kaduna state’s rich culture, the resilience of its people, and the potential for greatness that reside within every community.

He noted that the state has a history of producing transformative leaders, while being confident that their time in Kaduna would not only be impactful but also life-changing one.

“As you embark on this three-weeks orientation course, let me remind you that this is more than just a routine exercise. It is a gateway to leadership, discipline, and self-discovery”.

The Governor assure the corps members that the Government of Kaduna state is committed to their safety and well-being, adding that they have taken proactive measures to ensure they serve and thrive in a secured and supportive environment.

He, therefore urged them to make the most of the  experience, ensure boldness, innovation and selflessness their  service.

Earlier, the Coordinator of NYSC in the state, Mr Hassan Taura, said the orientation course is a pivotal programme designed to foster unity, integration, and cultural appreciation among participants.

He added that the comprehensive training being provided in camp is designed to broaden the corps members perspectives, empower them to navigate the wider world with confidence and unlock their potentials.

At the end of the orientation course, Taura said the corps members would be well prepared to take on leadership roles and make meaningful impacts in the development of the nation across various socio-economic spheres.

The coordinator urged them to be attentive toall lectures and prioritise the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship

Development training, stressing that it would empower them to thrive in a competitive market, as white-collar jobs are very scarce.

He thanked the Kaduna State Government for its unwavering support to the NYSC scheme and corps members.(NAN)
