Uncle Bado Memorial College, has won the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) legislature and democracy quiz competition in Kaduna.
The quiz, organised by the NILDS was an annual interschool competition for students of secondary schools in Kaduna.
Government Secondary School (GSS) Sabon Tasha, came second, while the Kaduna State Special Education School (KASSES), the host for the competition, came third position.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the schools, competed on current affairs and legislative matters.
Speaking at the event on Thursday in Kaduna, the State’s Commissioner of Education, Prof. Sani Bello, commended the institute for organising the competition.

Bello, represented by the ministry’s Director of Public Schools, Mukhtar Maude, emphasised that such initiatives was necessary in boosting the students confidence and widen their knowledge on democracy and governance.
Earlier, the Director of the NILDS, Prof. Abubakar Suleiman, said the competition was aimed at providing continuous education on legislature to the students.
Sulaiman, represented by the Coordinator of the quiz, Abdulsalam Bako, said the mandate of the institute is to support and promote the development of effective, dynamic, accountable legislature and democratic institutions in Nigeria.
Some of the students who participated, expressed their excitement for being part of the competition and learning new things about democracy in Nigeria.
NAN reports that the competition was also participated by students from GSS Samaru Zaria, GSS Sabon Tasha, Alhudahuda College Zaria, and Adeyemo College.(NAN)
