The Governor of Kaduna State Sen. Uba Sani has urged NYSC members to avoid tribalism, religious extremism, violence and other immoral acts that have have bedeviled the contemporary society.
Sani, represented by Hajiya Rabi Salisu, the state’s Commissioner of Human Services and Social Development, made the call at the swearing-in of NYSC members and opening ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘C’ stream ‘1’ orientation course on Tuesday in Kaduna.
Sani noted that over the years, NYSC has been
providing veritable platform for the educated Nigerian youths to
contribute their quota to the socio-economic development of Nigeria.
He therefore urged the corps members to be disciplined, loyal, committed, hardworking and
respectful to all constituted authorities.
He assured them that the state government at all levels had put in place various security measures that would ensure their security and safety throughout the service year.
The Governor however, urged them to also be security conscious and cooperate with all the security operatives to help the state achieve secured environment.
Earlier, the NYSC Coordinator in Kaduna, Mr Hassan Taura, explained that the orientation course is the first of the
four cardinal programmes of the NYSC scheme.
He noted that it is the foundation to
the success of the next three Stages of the service year.
Taura therefore said that the course is
designed to mould the corps members into highly disciplined and patriotic youths, capable of leading the country to greater heights.
For that reason, he said they must participate in all the activities in camp which
includes military drills, skill acquisition and entrepreneurship
development training, language studies, leadership and martial
arts trainings as well as lectures on national topical issues.
He thanked Governor Sani for his positive disposition to the smooth operation of the scheme in the state and other individuals/organisations who contributed to the successful take-off of the orientation course.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
